Bowie Birthday Blackout
Welcome to the Blackout.
The Genius of David Bowie are collaborating with hip and atmospheric new venue The Cloak and Dagger on Cheltenham Road to bring you a Bowie Birthday Blackout on Wednesday 8th January, on what would have his 73rd birthday. There’ll be Sound and Vision of course and multi-media over 4 rooms. Nothing that is un-Bowie gets in ….
The Cloak and Dagger is described as perfect for parties with classical cocktails and creative cuisine. It is newly opened and full of ideas and enthusiasm. It is the perfect place to hold our party for the genius that is David Bowie.
The Genius of David Bowie is the only Bristol based Bowie covers band and have gradually been building their following over the last year culminating in a Saturday night show at Mr Wolf’s and their acclaimed Space Oddity 50th anniversary and having already celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Lodger album in May.
The Vision is to show Bowie movies in one room culminating in the Bowie classic noir The Hunger. One room will have an all-night Bowie soundtrack with acclaimed Bowie DJ Michael Vinyl. There’ll be an acoustic Bowie room with an open stage for those wanting to make their own Bowie tribute. And of course there’s the Sound of The Genius of David Bowie with 2 full sets and special guests vocalists and musicians. There’ll be a chill out space on hand too in case it just all becomes too much. And Bowie face-painting with expert face painter Many Colours.
We’ll start with an early evening showing of The Man Who Fell To Earth. Arguably Bowie’s best film.
The evening will run till 1am.
