The Venue

The Cloak and Dagger is certainly the most eclectic venue on Gloucester Road - and that’s really saying something!
Split over two floors, we have several distinct spaces that are available for hire.

Known locally as Bristol’s Indie Shopping District, Gloucester Road and Stokes Croft are the destinations for anyone seeking to discover the more independent businesses Bristol has to offer.

The Parlour

With custom murals and strikingly colourful interior decor,

The Parlour is the perfect bright and open space to host small gatherings or, for the more creative among you, workshops such as life drawing. Available for hire, it is also our main restaurant area!

The Carousel

Our main performance space, The Carousel embodies the gothic. A highly versatile space – we are able to modify The Carousel to suit everything from live music or intimate gig to comedy nights or cabaret style shows.

The Courtyard

Our brand-new Courtyard was a labour of love and we are so happy with how it has turned out! A covered seating area means that you can enjoy a refreshing cocktail or delicious meal outside whatever the weather. Once our events start again, The courtyard wont be available Thursday, Friday or Saturday evenings.

Some testimonials from our amazing customers!
“From the bazaar brightness of its umbrella decorated roof to the Mexican hell fire club of a cabaret The Cloak & Dagger is a work of art. Every room and corner is crafted to create transport the visitor to another space and time. Like dedicated curators staff create the most exquisite experience. The food is legendary, the service impeccable but what is most memorable is the dedication to service. Commercial gain is secondary to the quality of experience. It is no wonder then that in the short time it has been open to the Cloak and Dagger has become a much-cherished second home for myself and for many fellow artists. I have performed, partied, dined and danced at the Cloak & Dagger. Becoming a CIC is a perfect next step.”

"We visited this recently opened venue after seeing a listing online for close-up magic. We weren’t disappointed. Magic Malka, the house magician, treated us to a baffling and entertaining show at our table. This was at our table upstairs (street level), but normally there would be a show downstairs. We had a tour of the downstairs area which is being done up and is full of weird and wonderful items. It reminded me of a New Orleans voodoo shop, which is never a bad thing. The staff and owner were all extremely friendly and made us feel like welcome guests. The venue itself is decorated in a quirky manner with a wall of vintage tea pots and other interesting things to look at while enjoying a huge range of teas, coffee and alcoholic drinks. They serve food too, although we didn’t realise so had already eaten. We were really impressed and will definitely be visiting again!"

We had every nibble, and every small plate (and virtually every cocktail!) -nothing but praise for this place. Great service, - it almost felt like a normal night out. The food was magnificent really tasty loads of interesting flavours, cocktails delish, and waiters’ didn’t hang around bringing us new ones.

Thanks guys for a memorable night out.

Our Blog

Welcome to our news platform!
Alcohol free in April?!

There have been many newspaper announcements today about how pubs and restaurants will be re-opening-some saying the 10pm curfew will be scrapped, some saying pubs can open but can’t serve alcohol and others saying “substantial” meal to be waived.

As business owners in this sector we find the rumours, rules and talk incredibly frustrating as we find ourselves constantly adapting our plans to what newspapers speculate. Until there are official government announcements our booking system will continue to remain offline. We will re-open as a clothes shop when the tier system is back in place until we are certain it is safe for the public to offer events, drinking and dining again.

Yet more changes to the building 😊

We have been using the lockdowns to complete necessary works to improve the venue. We have knocked through a redundant stairwell to eventually convert into an additional customer toilet block and changing area. This will help reduce queuing and maintain social distancing in the venue. We have applied for funding through the Screwfix fund to make the building more accessible and to finish our new studio area. We are making the kitchen and cellar safer for staff by replacing the flooring with non-slip and protecting the walls to increase hygiene levels.
