How to Book

We are now taking bookings!

*Please Note these dates are guidelines only and may be postponed

COVID GUIDELINES UPDATE:

Dear customers,
It has felt like forever since we were at full capacity… We’ve worked very hard to get to this point, we’ve had music, comedy, magic, drag events, great food and cocktails and all sorts of stuff happen here regardless of having to spin a million plates to make it work… Phew!

So thanks for sticking to the rules and making these months good ones.
As much as we’d love to throw some mega parties and go full out and max our capacity wherever possible, we believe this isn’t a sensible idea with the situation in Bristol right now. The thought of having to do another lockdown is not pleasant!

Our team is small and quite vulnerable to COVID and we’ve discovered first hand how crippling it is when half the team are told to isolate. We will therefore be slowly dipping our toes in the water to see what we feel most comfortable with as a business moving forward.

Please – not only for the staff but for other customers, do your utmost to adhere to the guidelines as before. We are happy to offer table service, please don’t loiter around the bar and please respect other customers who may want to continue to distance or choose to wear masks.

We may refuse entry if we feel you may be a risk to others safety or even your own safety, please don’t be offended if this happens to you, we want to remain cautious that’s all.

Many thanks,
Team Cloak and Dagger

The Venue

The Cloak and Dagger is certainly the most eclectic venue on Gloucester Road - and that’s really saying something!
Split over two floors, we have several distinct spaces that are available for hire.
1

Location

Known locally as Bristol’s Indie Shopping District, Gloucester Road and Stokes Croft are the destinations for anyone seeking to discover the more independent businesses Bristol has to offer.

2

The Parlour

With custom murals and strikingly colourful interior decor,

The Parlour is the perfect bright and open space to host small gatherings or, for the more creative among you, workshops such as life drawing. Available for hire, it is also our main restaurant area!

3

The Carousel

Our main performance space, The Carousel embodies the gothic. A highly versatile space – we are able to modify The Carousel to suit everything from live music or intimate gig to comedy nights or cabaret style shows.

4

The Courtyard

Our brand-new Courtyard was a labour of love and we are so happy with how it has turned out! A covered seating area means that you can enjoy a refreshing cocktail or delicious meal outside whatever the weather. Once our events start again, The courtyard wont be available Thursday, Friday or Saturday evenings.

Testimonials

Some testimonials from our amazing customers!
“From the bazaar brightness of its umbrella decorated roof to the Mexican hell fire club of a cabaret The Cloak & Dagger is a work of art. Every room and corner is crafted to create transport the visitor to another space and time. Like dedicated curators staff create the most exquisite experience. The food is legendary, the service impeccable but what is most memorable is the dedication to service. Commercial gain is secondary to the quality of experience. It is no wonder then that in the short time it has been open to the Cloak and Dagger has become a much-cherished second home for myself and for many fellow artists. I have performed, partied, dined and danced at the Cloak & Dagger. Becoming a CIC is a perfect next step.”
Edson Burton (Performer)
"We visited this recently opened venue after seeing a listing online for close-up magic. We weren’t disappointed. Magic Malka, the house magician, treated us to a baffling and entertaining show at our table. This was at our table upstairs (street level), but normally there would be a show downstairs. We had a tour of the downstairs area which is being done up and is full of weird and wonderful items. It reminded me of a New Orleans voodoo shop, which is never a bad thing. The staff and owner were all extremely friendly and made us feel like welcome guests. The venue itself is decorated in a quirky manner with a wall of vintage tea pots and other interesting things to look at while enjoying a huge range of teas, coffee and alcoholic drinks. They serve food too, although we didn’t realise so had already eaten. We were really impressed and will definitely be visiting again!"

We had every nibble, and every small plate (and virtually every cocktail!) -nothing but praise for this place. Great service, - it almost felt like a normal night out. The food was magnificent really tasty loads of interesting flavours, cocktails delish, and waiters’ didn’t hang around bringing us new ones.

Thanks guys for a memorable night out.

Our Blog

Welcome to our news platform!
Where are our kick starters? New changes announced!

When the government announced the Kick start scheme to start in August last year we were very keen to get rolling. The scheme was created to employ people aged between 16-24, on universal credit, who have found difficulties finding employment. In order for us to register to the scheme we had to team up with BARBIE and apply for 30 positions at a time. We have applied for 11 positions to expand our team and 6 months later we are still waiting for news on where they are!!!

The government have now amended the scheme to make it easier to recruit kick-starters by cancelling the minimum you can apply for. This change will apply from 2nd February.

We are looking for the following to join our team, no experience necessary:

Caretaker x 2
Cleaner x 2
HR and Administration assistant (can work from home)
Event Assistant (can work from home)
Trainee Chef
Cocktail and Coffee Barista
Security Guard
Retailer (can work from home)
Marketing Assistant (can work from home)

If you meet the criteria to be a kick-starter and are interested in any of the positions above, please email daggersales@outlook.com for a full job description and details of training provided. We will notify you once the scheme has launched with information on how to apply.

Congratulations to The Longest Johns!

Jenna (CnD Co – Director) was originally the landlady of The Three Tuns pub and after 5 years she decided to make a bold move by relocating to a larger venue which we now know as The Cloak and Dagger. She always had a passion for events and live music especially. During one of the open mic nights, The Longest Johns turned up and were amazing. She booked them to do two gigs at the Tuns and now we are really delighted to hear that they have now been signed by Decca (which is part of Universal)!. We hope to continue to be a platform for new bands and eventually fill our walls with photos of performers who have gone on to bigger places.
